| ((nordic family get together commence! nordics only pls and thank))
To be perfectly honest Berwald still wasn't sure just how they came to the agreement of meeting at his place. He could remember plenty of arguing, plenty of rescheduling, someone had gotten ready only to realize it was the wrong day, and just general chaos - all in the name of a 'family' get together. Not that anything else was to be expected considering the mixture of nations attempting to arrange it. Things could never go smoothly, and really it was a miracle they even came to any sort of agreement in the span of this century.
Ages ago them coming together meant donning helmets, retrieving weapons, and seeing who could cause the most destruction. That was their family bonding. Blood shed and conquering, occasionally (that was putting it lightly) between each other. Such conflict, however, was in the past. Not to say they weren't above getting into arguments and scraps (as obvious by their complete inability to schedule this more effectively and sooner with less snark and complaints), but it was nowhere near the extent it had been and could easily classify as their way of saying they all loved each other. They may not all be blood siblings, but that didn't prevent them from acting like it was the case.
Such displays of affection, if you wanted to call it that, were a likely outcome of the evening. Berwald was well aware of that. Especially if alcohol was going to be in the plans, which - knowing a certain two members - it would be. Perhaps more civility could be expected if it were for business, but that was not the case and part of him almost dreaded it and the inevitable disaster it would be. Though he supposed if he could settle for Tino being just a neighbor and that the Øresundsbron Bridge came to life with little conflict between himself and Matthias then nothing was truly impossible.
He frowned, or rather frowned deeper as he'd already been frowning. Hopefully they'd go out for the evening, it was bad enough having to clean up (not that his place had been particularly messy he had just felt the need to scrub things down and make sure everything smelled nice for their arrival) one. Surely if they decided to occupy his home for the entirety of the night something would get spilled, stained, broken, or something equally detrimental. Besides, it wasn't like there was anything particularly interesting about his house (sans the fact it was literally a store with all home necessities just sort of added on) and as far as things to do outside their options weren't even that astounding. Not by some of his fellow Nordic standards, at least. He's already more than prepared for the 'we should have done this over at my place' that will happen at least once.
Despite his aversion to keeping his soon to be company there Berwald still made sure to stock up on the basic necessities of guest entertaining. Booze, mostly. Vodka for Tino, and a cheap lager for the rest of them assuming no one wanted to get adventurous (favoritism, what favoritism, there definitely was no Finn-geared favoritism going on here). Hopefully all their drinking would take place elsewhere, he'd prefer havoc reeked on some poor bar than his poor home. If not, well, he did agree to this and it was just the price he'd have to pay.
He checked the time, which had entered the general vicinity of when they might start showing up. It was pointless to plan for anything exact and a half hour leeway, at the least, was necessary. Someone was always early, someone was always late. Exact just wasn't within their capability for one reason or another, something he mused on while he mulled about doing nondescript things for however long it took someone to make an appearance.

| With his mouth parted into a bright smile as he checked the clock on his phone, Matthias approached the large doors of a home that most people would find particularly unusual, to say the least. He took pride in his punctuality and was not disappointed in the slightest to discover that he had arrived just minutes earlier than planned. He was dressed in a manner that could be considered too formal for a simple family gathering, but to Matthias, these summonings were too important to not make himself look presentable. Heck, he even brought some alcohol for the occasion, just in case Berwald happened to forget, or didn't bring enough.
The Nordic 'family' had always been close. Matthias could record the numerous instances they had spent Christmas together, along with other special occasions they celebrated. Though their closeness, much to the Dane's dismay, wasn't to last, as the time they spent as a family decreased over the years. Now, it was rare to attend such an event, so he promised himself that he'd make an effort to show how much he appreciated seeing them all after such a long absence. After all, no one could deny that their relationship was very much like that of a family; they didn't need to be directly related for that.
And yet, though they had a bond that was extremely valued by Matthias, he couldn't deny just how much they'd argue over the duration of their time together. From simple bickering to fully fledged fist fights (though Matthias would flat out deny that he was the cause of those), the Nordics would not hesitate to cause some drama from time to time. He supposed it was quite entertaining, and knew it was probably in their nature after all of the fighting they had participated in an incredibly long time ago.
But those activities were yet to come. He still had greetings to give and people to see before he could dwell on such thoughts. Deciding that there was no point in lingering around for any more early arrivals (everyone seemed flexible with the time that they showed up, so he could be waiting for an hour or more for all he knew) he gave the door a very loud and clear knock to grab the attention of the Swedish man inside, slipping his hands absent-mindedly into his pockets as he waited for his welcome.

| There it was, the first knock. Berwald didn't even have to think twice on who it could be, as the times that very same knock greeted him were countless. He wasted little time in making way for the door, even if this was family and he had no need to reserve any special treatment he wasn't particularly fond of being a bad host.
As expected a smiling Dane dressed to the nines (that part not so expected) greeted him. Was getting all gussied up really necessary? Matthias looked about ready to go right into a meeting, or at least out to a high end restaurant where everything was overpriced, and Berwald sincerely hoped he hadn't dressed with such expectations in mind. He'd made no reservations anywhere, and considering he was the host he'd likely get roped into paying. Not that he wouldn't, this was somewhat of a rarity for them all to get together, but he certainly wouldn't be happy about it if that were the case.
Berwald shrugged the thoughts off as he had a guest to attend to, and just staring at them wasn't really doing that. "Course you're first," he mumbled, more to himself, but it wasn't really such a bad thing. There were worse fates than being stuck for an undetermined amount of time with Matthias. At least, now that they had both (more or less) calmed down. Of course the Dane was still annoying as hell, but that was just a universal opinion, and almost, /almost/ something close to endearing. Bearable, if nothing else (though how long it'd remain that way was questionable).
He stepped aside, keeping the door open to let Matthias enter while contemplating his fetching fashion choice of house slippers compared to the Dane's. "Dunno when t'others are comin'," Berwald threw out as he closed the door, starting the obvious. He took note of the beer and frowned. While a very nice gesture he was just mildly perturbed, he wouldn't have gotten so much himself if he knew Matthias intended on actually being a decent guest. This was not voiced, however, as he simply took the drinks and stowed them in the fridge with his own.

| Much to his relief, Matthias hadn't spent much time standing out in the chilly evening air before the doors parted and revealed a familiar stony-faced Scandinavian. A brief scan on the Dane's part over his 'friend's' choice of clothes, and the additional sight of the Swede eyeing his own suddenly made him feel a little sheepish, in complete honesty. He scratched the back of his head and lowered his gaze to his outfit. He wouldn't go as far as to say it made him self-conscious, but a little out of place, stood formally in front of a man who didn't apparently care for the the fact he currently wore slippers.
"So, am I a little overdressed for the occasion?" He laughed in a rumbling tone after a comfortable pause shared between them, accepting his allowance into the house when the other man stepped aside for him, grabbing the bottles the Matthias had brought along. He entered the building as Berwald briskly turned away, alcohol in hand, and for a brief second Matthias was worried about where he was taking them. Shrugging off his jacket -along with the growing eagerness to drink the beverages- and tossing it onto the hook situated on the wall by the door frame, Matthias made his way down through the house.
The entirety of the interior seemed different from what he could remember of a previous visit. Unsurprisingly, everything was neat and well-designed, matching in both style and colour; though he couldn't expect any less from someone like Berwald. A small appreciative whistle sounded from between his lips, and the corners of his mouth curled up into yet another smile, eyeing the surroundings and taking in the newly improved decor. Without glancing back at the other Nordic personification, Matthias spoke up. "Looking good in here, Ber. Better than what ya did with the place before, I think." He voiced his opinion with a nod of his head, crossing his arms over his chest. "Though, still not quite like my home. I think my place has a less-harsh feel to it. Ah well!" The Dane finally glanced towards where his companion stood. "No one else here yet, huh?"
